  • It's a......

Well, I had my regular doctor's appointment on Monday. I got to meet the actual lady who will deliver my baby for the first time. All she did was listen to the heartbeat mostly. She felt my tummy and she changed the due date back to October 19th, which would make me 18 weeks pregnant. We had an appointment today with a geneticist and my doctor told us that we would have a detailed ultrasound while we were there, so we were excited.

We saw the geneticist today. The reason I was referred over there is sort of unknown, at least to the geneticist lol. Well, we went to Planned Parenthood when we first found out I was pregnant. They just did a pregnancy test, and then because I had cancer (when I was 18), they said my pregnancy is high risk. So they referred us to another place because Planned Parenthood doesn't deal with high risk pregnancies. So we started going to the other place and when we asked a lady exactly why the pregnancy is considered to be high risk, she said, "I'll refer you to Dr. Helm, a geneticist, he'll be able to answer all your questions." But for our regular appointment, the doctor said, "oh, you're seeing Dr. Helm on Wednesday?"  "Yeah, because we were told it's a high risk pregnancy."  "No it's not. The cancer is hereditary, but the pregnancy is fine." So we went there anyway, mostly because we wanted to see if we could find out the sex of the baby, not really concerned about the pregnancy anymore. We never saw Dr. Helm, we only got to talk to a genetic counselor and it was on a webcam, so that was a little different. She told us that she doesn't specialize in cancer related stuff, but since we were there, we went over our family history and they drew blood to see if I'm a carrier of a few things. Oh, and they said based on the ultrasound, my due date is October 27th. I'm scheduled to have my regular ultrasound on the 28th, so I think whatever the due date they say is at that time, I'll probably stick with.

So, yeah we had an ultrasound. And we found out........

    We're having a boy .

Since it was a detailed ultrasound, we got some 4d pictures that is covered by the insurance. We might get it done one more time when the baby is older, but we'd probably have to pay for it out of our own pockets so it's going to depend on how much is costs. And now I introduce to you, weighing in at 9 ounces....

I forgot to mention awhile back that for the first time, David saw me when I was having sleep paralysis. I was laying on his mom's couch and I fell asleep. He thought I was just having a bad dream, but at least now he knows what sleep paralysis looks like. I was trying to mouth the word "help" to him but I don't think he caught that lol.

I had a list of goals for the year but I haven't really been doing them. Actually, I forgot I made the list. David found the list on my computer. There are some long term goals like learn a new guitar chord every week (I did tat for about a month, then stopped), and also one time things such as going on a picnic. I have been reading more though, which is on the list. I like to read, but I got out of the habit of reading regulary for awhile. I still don't always read regulary, but it's better. Right now I'm on my tenth book of the year, which is good compared to the last couple years. I'm a member of booksfree.com, which is kind of like netflix, but with books. I know there is a thing called a library, but I'd be less likely to use the library. I just use their lowest plan (same with netflix). So netflix + booksfree = about $20 a month. I don't really spend much money on anything else, as far as entertainment goes. One thing about booksfree though, is it can take a little while to receive your new books, especially for those of us on the west coast. So while I'm waiting, I read a book or two that I already own.

I'm 16 weeks pregnant, which is a big number for me. The next week that I consider to be big is week 20 so I'm looking forward to that. I've gained 10 pounds so far, so I'm staying on track. I would like to not gain more than 30 pounds if I can help it.

Does anyone know of a list online that has a list of all baby essentials? I have a list in my head of things we need to buy but I've never been a parent before so I know there are probably things that I'm not even thinking of.

I am 15 weeks pregnant. I've gained 7-8 pounds. My next appointment is on the 18th.

  • Preggo

Here I am folks, 13 weeks pregnant. When I said I was 13 weeks before, that's what the doctor told me, but they went back to my original due date, so I am currently 13, almost 14 weeks pregnant. I've gained 7 pounds so far. Yesterday I started exercising (I probably should have started sooner, but oh well, better now than never). This picture was taken after I finished day two of exercise. I'm hoping I don't get stretch marks on my tummy, so far so good. I've been using stretch mark lotion. I already have stretch marks on my hips and thighs from puberty, I don't need anymore. But, if it happens, it happens.
